Colorado Association of Home Builders Issues Current Findings

Since 2008, Kurt Wiedt has served as principal for Markham Woods in Denver, Colorado. He leads the company’s residential real estate endeavors, particularly its homebuilding projects. To help him stay connected to industry colleagues, Kurt Wiedt maintains membership with the Colorado Association of Home Builders (CAHB).

Established in 1974, CAHB has a membership of almost 2,000 individuals who collectively represent 40,000 jobs in the state. As an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, this chapter comprises 10 local home builders associations scattered across the state. Its mission is to advocate for its members, support each of its 10 local associations, and empower members through educational opportunities.

In November 2017, CAHB broke down its membership numbers as of July of the same year. At that time, membership was at 1,985, including builders, associates, and affiliate members all found in the state. This showed that the membership numbers remained stable, just as they had in the previous three years.

It also revealed that building permits issued in the state for 2016 reached about 35,700, with 19,200 of those issued for single-family detached homes. Further, 16,500 of those issued were for attached homes, such as townhomes, condos, and apartments. CAHB members construct almost 80 percent of new homes within the state.
